COLD CHISEL TO HEADLINE 2010 ‘DENILIQUIN UTE MUSTER'
Cold Chisel will headline the 2010 Deniliquin Ute Muster on Saturday 2nd October it was announced today. This will be Cold Chisel's only major performance this year.
This special appearance in Deniliquin reflects the band's reinvigoration after drawing over 50,000 people to an unforgettable concert at the Olympic Stadium in Sydney in December last year.
" Cold Chisel got together late last year and we had a good time. We all thought that if the right thing came up, we'd do it again." said Chisel's Don Walker.
" Cold Chisel is the best band I have ever played with," said Jimmy Barnes. "Whenever the five of us get together sparks fly and something beautiful happens."
In only 12 years, the Deniliquin Ute Muster has grown from strength to strength. A not-for-profit community driven festival held on the NSW Labour Day Long Weekend every year, the Muster provides a much-needed economic boost to the region. In 2009, Powderfinger headlined the festival and this year, with Cold Chisel performing, a record crowd of around 20,000 people is expected.
The festival is a celebration of all things Australian, bringing together the best top class entertainment over two days and nights for all ages including extreme sports action, competitions and great Australian music.
Set on the flattest open plains on earth the site includes a huge family camping area that caters for sedans, caravans, camper trailers and mobile homes so if you don't have a ute - don't despair, everyone is welcome.

COLD CHISEL ROCK THE V8s
Dec 5, 2009... ANZ Stadium, Homebush.
8.15pm Cold Chisel take the stage proper for the first time in 5 years and in front of the biggest crowd of their career (45,500) they immediately show they've come to rumble... The crowd has been amped-up by a big day of high energy V8s and then the bands MM9, Grinspoon and The Living End and with the sun setting over the stadium, "Standing On The Outside" blasts from the stage like a siren, a call to arms... "The Things I Love In You" and "Painted Doll" positively speed and roar and a guitar-led "Choir Girl" shows the crowd that Chisel can surprise, improvise and defy expectations... "My Baby” and "Cheap Wine" are big sing-alongs, but nothing could compare to the mania when "Flame Trees" and "Khe Sanh" are played.
The crowd aren't going anywhere and demand more and generously get it in "Four Walls", "One Long Day" segueing into "Letter To Alan" and different to their warm-ups, they pull out "Goodbye (Astrid Goodbye)," which they attack ferociously. Another encore is asked and given and with threats of curfews being broken the band surprise again with "Breakfast At Sweethearts" and then the brooding closer "The Last Wave of Summer"... Cold Chisel return the only way they now how... brilliantly.

Cold Chisel - Far Too Hot For Warm Ups
In the lead-up to their headline performance at the Sydney Telstra 500 on Saturday December 5, Cold Chisel blew away two very different audiences at two top secret shows over the last week.
Clovelly Bowling Club, Sydney, NSW ... On Wednesday Nov 25, locals at the Clovelly Bowling Club were a little surprised and confused to see a truckload of gear being loaded into their quiet watering hole, which is perched precariously on a cliff, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. But when soundcheck began at 6pm, the sounds of "You Got Nothing I Want" and "Cheap Wine" and the blood-curdling warm-up screams of Jimmy Barnes left no doubt as to who the band was that had booked the venue for a private party. Taking the stage for real as the sun was setting, Cold Chisel tore through a 105 minute set in front of 120 family and friends. A punchy "Standing on the Outside" opened proceedings and after four or five songs, the band had cranked to top gear and were at their hi-octane, sweaty best. Playing songs from all of their 6 studio albums, throwing in a cover of "Don't Let Go" (a nod to the classic live album 'Swingshift') and returning to material like "One Long Day" that they hadn't played live in 26 years, gave the crowd everything they could want. Dripping with sweat and beaming as they left the stage, it was clear this wasn't just a great night for the crowd...
Central Oval, Port Augusta, South Australia... From the intimacy of playing to 120 friends three nights earlier, the band were looking for a different kind of hit-out and got it on Saturday Night (Nov 28) at Central Oval. Expecting a Jimmy Barnes gig, the 3,000+ crowd were blown away to see Cold Chisel emerge through the wind and the dust of Port Augusta and once again rip into "Standing On The Outside" to open up another great Chisel set. Underpinned as always by the foundation of Steve Prestwich's powerful drums, Phil Small's driving bass and Don Walker's pounding piano/keys, it left Ian Moss and Jimmy Barnes to own the front of the stage, tearing it up with their very unique blend of soul, blues and gut-busting rock & roll. Barnes and Moss' unique vocal blend was right back at its best on "When The War Is Over" and "Bow River" and Mossy, as always, made you think there were 2 or 3 guitarists onstage as he filled the sports ground with an amazing array of sound and colour. As they did at Clovelly, the band were joined by Andy Bickers on sax for tracks like "Saturday Night" and long-standing harmonica player, Dave Blight who wailed-up a storm on "Khe Sanh", "Bow River" and more...
ANZ Stadium, Homebush, NSW...Saturday December 5... This ain't no warm-up... This ain't no rehearsal...
Cold Chisel in the 21st Century
Cold Chisel, one of Australia's most revered and acclaimed rock & roll bands, announced today that it has formed a new management relationship with John Watson and John O'Donnell.
In early September, the band's previous manager Rod Willis resigned after 32 years of working with the band. During their long and proud relationship, Cold Chisel and Willis enjoyed incredible success together and re-wrote many of the rules of the music business. "When we joined up with Rod we were an unknown band," said Don Walker. "Rod has been like a brother to us for thirty two years".
Some weeks after this news, the band approached John O'Donnell and John Watson separately to discuss management of the group. O'Donnell was most recently the CEO of EMI Music Australia after stints at Rolling Stone Magazine and Murmur/Sony Music. Watson's current management roster includes Silverchair, Missy Higgins, Pete Murray and Little Birdy plus he operates the successful label, Eleven: A Music Company. The pair are long time friends and colleagues and they saw this as a unique opportunity to join forces to work with a band that they have loved and respected since their early teens.

COLD CHISEL RE-UNITE FOR ONE SHOW ONLY AT SYDNEY TELSTRA 500
In an entertainment coup, V8 Supercars Australia has confirmed the country's most successful rock band, Cold Chisel, will re-unite for a special one show only concert event at the much anticipated Sydney Telstra 500, on Saturday 5 December. The announcement cements the Sydney Telstra 500 as Sydney's biggest sporting and entertainment event for 2009, with the three-day entertainment spectacular at Sydney Olympic Park offering the best touring car racing on show by day and a celebration of iconic Australian music by night. Rock legend and Cold Chisel singer Jimmy Barnes said that this was an opportunity the band could not pass up.
"Cold Chisel is the best band I have ever played with. No matter when we get together sparks fly and something beautiful happens. The band has always been a huge part of my life and I know that when we play, the house will rock. I can't wait to get in front of The V8 crowd and cut loose. Bring it on"
Co-rock legend and guitar player/singer Ian Moss added "For me it's a great opportunity to rip into a catalogue of great songs with a bunch of guys that know how to rock, everytime they get on stage!!"
A first year crowd of 150,000 people is expected to attend the Sydney Telstra 500 across the three days of racing and two nights of four-hour concert entertainment.
The Friday evening concert line up includes performances by Australian dance music sensations the Presets, Sneaky Sound System and Potbelleez.
The Saturday evening concert entertainment will have a distinctly rock flavour, beginning with performances from punk rockers the Living End and post-grunge band Grinspoon, and ending with the one-off show by Cold Chisel.
Providing excellent value for money the Friday and Saturday night concerts are included in the price of a Sydney Telstra 500 day ticket. Friday event tickets start from $48.00, and Saturday from $76.00, and include a full day of diverse on-track entertainment, championship V8 Supercar racing, entry to night concerts and free public transport to and from the event.
V8 Supercars Australia Executive Chairman Tony Cochrane said the Sydney Telstra 500 is the signature event of the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series calendar.
“Sydney Olympic Park is tailor made as an entertainment and events precinct, with the Sydney Telstra 500 turning the area into a showcase street circuit and concert venue,” Mr Cochrane said.
“Not since the 2000 Sydney Olympics has the space been used to such a large-scale, offering a world class entertainment package that is incredibly affordable and provides a full day and night of entertainment.
“To secure Cold Chisel, undoubtedly Australia's most influential rock band, to come together for a special one-off performance is a huge coup for V8 Supercar fans and Sydney event goers and stamps the Sydney Telstra 500 as an event not to be missed by race and music fans from around the country.
”The Sydney Telstra 500 is Sydney's first ever street race, and the dramatic conclusion to the V8 Supercar season, where the 2009 Series Champion will be determined.

Billy Thorpe RIP
Cold Chisel would like to extend to Billy's family and friends their condolences on his passing.
Very sad to hear about the passing of Billy Thorpe yesterday. I remember one night, must have been around 1975, going to see him at the Elizabeth Octagon with Steve Prestwich. I had seen Billy live before in a few situations, and I wanted to see what Steve thought of him, because Steve had just moved out from England, and unlike me had seen everybody worth seeing internationally. That night Billy played three-piece, just himself on guitar and a bass player, Paul Wheeler I think, and a drummer. There weren't many people there. It was of course very very loud. Steve's assessment was that Billy was as good as anyone anywhere.
I got to know him a bit in the last five years, and I liked him a lot. He and his lovely wife Lynn came round to dinner a couple of times. I know he used to socialize with Jim, and Jim liked him a lot, because he told me.
Late last night I was watching TV and they showed a little bit of Billy on stage, and a smug TV presenter said "I'd like to say they don't make 'em like that any more, but they do, all the time." He was wrong, as they usually are. Billy was unique in his lifetime, and there'll be no more like him.
- Don Walker
I was always a fan of Billy Thorpe, especially after Sunbury and his iconic song ( Most People I Know ). I was fortunate enough to get to meet him in Febuary 2005 at the Moonlight Festival gigs in W.A.
In May of that same year Paul Demarco asked me to fill in on bass with Billy for 3 shows due to an accident which put Jackie Orzacsky out of action. From the moment I rehearsed with him in his studio in Surry Hills I could sense Billys' professionalism. To be honest I was in awe of him at the time but he made me feel completely at home and one of the family.
He gave his all on stage and delivered from the heart to his fans and yes indeed, he certainly was fucking loud! My ears were ringing for 2 weeks after the shows. It was a privillge to play with you Billy! You will be sadly missed!
- Phil Small

Gerry Rest in Peace.

Cold Chisel is in mourning for one of their greatest friends who passed away tragically in the US last week.
Gerry Georgettis had been the band's sound engineer during the late 70's and early 80's, touring the breadth of Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the USA.
Gerry wasn't just a sound guy, he was the backbone of the touring show, always reliable, honest, level headed and a true believer in Cold Chisel and their music.
Gerry had a passion and a vast knowledge of music that he would openly pass on to the young guys in the group. His influence in the development of Cold Chisel's music cannot be underestimated.
Gerry will be missed in more ways than can be expressed here. He was an important part of what made Cold Chisel, and his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
