Please get some dates in the UK and the new album with the bonus disc any chance
of a UK release no matter how limited. Keep rockin, nobody grooves like
the chisel.
A Pommie fan.
Thanks Paul. We are currently working on a plan for the release of Cold Chisel
product in the UK and Europe. 2005 looks like the likely date. Touring? who
knows, makes sense doesn’t?

* From: Eberhard Hische Germany
Hi from Germany,
I got your e-mail address from the Cold Chisel site. I hope you can help me
out on this matter.
Being a big Chisel/Barnes fan for many years,I recently got a compilation Cd
on Ebay.
The title is :
"BANANA LOUNGE: WITH A TWIST"
Label: CENTRAL STATION
CatalogNumber: CSRCD5093
Original Release Date:01-Jan-98
LOUNGE MUSIC compilation featuring 20 essential "lounge tracks" including
EXCLUSIVE TRACKS, REMIXES and hard to find gems from KYLIE, DANNII, COLD CHISEL,
TINA ARENA, RENEE GEYER, TOM BURLINSON and more. The COLD CHISEL track is a
DON WALKER number called “It will always be you”. I have this number
on a CD by Jimmy’s son DAVID CAMPBELL (“Taking The Wheel”
from 1997).
But the track on the “Banana Lounge” compilation is definitely Jimmy
singing and Don Walker playing keys. To me it sounds like a leftover from “The
Last Wave Of Summer”-Sessions.
I could not find it on any official releases.
Have you got any more information???
It would be great,if you can help me out on this matter!!
Hi Eberhard. Yes you are correct the track was written for the Last Wave of
Summer album but didn’t make the final cut. David Campbell did record
it and the only commercial Cold Chisel release was on the Banana Lounge with
a Twist album.

Hi,
If/When a NZ tour is announced will we get advance ticket purchase just
like the Aussies got?
Would hate to miss out.
Cheers
Toni
Hi guys. The band have been trying to schedule some shows in NZ for the last
couple of years now, but to no avail. Plans are still on, but as of writing
this, nothing has been confirmed.
* From : Tony
I was just wondering is the ringside dvd being released only in australia or
is it being released world-wide(uk especially cause it takes ages to be shipped
over here) any help you could give would be appreciated take it easy
tony
Hi Tony as stated earlier we are attempting to gain releases for all Chisel
product in the UK and Europe. Hopefully 2005. Then the US etc, etc.
* From: Mark
There is a Cold Chisel poster on E-bay with Jimmy holding a shotgun. Can
anybody tell me anything about it.
Hi Mark,
Well the poster did exist around 1980. Not sure exactly when. There were photos
done with the shotgun and without. I think it may have been used as a gig poster
but I'm not 100%. I recall some controversy regarding the shotgun. The shot
without the shotgun was used as a publicity photo and was also used in 1991
as the cover for Misfits/Mona & the Preacher/Four Walls (Live) which was
released around the time that the first Chisel (Gold) compilation was released.
There may have been some posters done for this release and this could be one
of them. It's hard to tell. I looked at it on ebay and wasn't confident that
it was an actual gig poster. There is no venue or tour details I can see, only
Fri & Sat written on it. I have a vague recall it was printed on grey background.

Hi Guys,
I know i am jumping the gun here but can you tell me if it is still in
the works to put The Last Stand on dvd.
And is something can be done on dvd with the Manly Vale concert that is on the
seeing is believing video.

Hi Phil. See above regarding The Last Stand on dvd. We have all the footage
from the Manly Vale concert and I’m sure it will see the light of day
real sometime on DVD.

Can u please tell me why Forever Now is not on the dvd
Many thanks Paul..................
Mainly because it appears on the CD and there was an attempt to try and make
the two (DVD + CD) different wherever possible.

America region. Can you help me out?

Why don’t Cold Chisel come on the road and do some small gigs in Northern
California for we few but avid Chisel fans here???? I would die to see them
live, as I missed out by living in Australia in the post Chisel days. PLLLLEEEASEEE! I
can give some feedback on good clubs here.
I know that the band are keen to tour the US again. Who knows what may happen!
* From : Paul Jansen
Hello,
Last week I bought the new dvd and now I saw him I will see the band here on
a stage. The last tour that you guys did here in Europe is too long ago and
I missed that. I don't think you played in Belgium or Holland, I saw Jimmy 9
times during his tours around central Europe in the begin of the 90's. I read
on the site of Livingloud that they're planning a tour in Britain for next year,
hopefully it's gonna be more than just England. Because it's not cheap to go
over there it's almost necessary to stay over and the hotel prices are not cheap.
Then I prefer to do more concerts but on the continent for the same amount of
money. But please try to come over next year, we have a good club circuit over
here. I gonna leave you now but not before you get the greetings from the winter
side of the globe and keep on putting the good music in the spotlight ! ! !
As with the US the band is very keen to tour Europe and the UK again.
* From : Nikhil Spain
Hey Nik, hope it worked out with your girl!
* From : Paul Kirsopp UK
Hi, I am living in England,my brother spent ten years in Aussie and introduced
me to Cold Chisel.
Why are they relatively unheard of in England?
I lived in London 10 yrs now back home in Newcastle north England.
Whilst in London rubbed shoulders with lots of Aussies and heard more CC.
Saw Jimmy live twice. Absolutely fucking brilliant band.
Is there a fan club. If not can you keep me informed of any news.
Thanks
genuine Jimmy Barns and CC fan
Paul Kirsopp
Hi Paul, thanks for the kind words. Who knows what 2005 will bring, meantime
stay tuned to the Cold Chisel web site, especially the chat room, those guys
know more about what's happening than the band does!!
* From : Mike D
hi a couple of years ago i purchased a special release CD called 3 big hits
(i think - i am at work at the moment). The concept was to buy a three cd's
with 5 songs on each over a period of time in order to build up to the entire
collection. I only ended up purchasing the first two and now would like the
third one. Is the CD still in production or do you have any ideas how i can
get a copy of the third disc.
Mike D
Hi Mike. No unfortunately the disc is not in production anymore. Maybe check
the chat room or ebay for someone who may have a copy they want to part with.
* From : Glenn Daley
Hello I was wanting to find out where can I get a Cold Chisel Screen saver
for my computer.
yours faithfully
Glenn Daley
Hi Glenn. No sorry we don’t have any screen savers. With most computers
today you can put up any photo you like up as a desktop picture. Grab a Chisel
photo and put it up, that should work.
New FAQ's June 2003
Fabio, Anne, Robyn, Leigh, Ian, David, Michelle, Jackie, Greg, Kim, David and
literally hundreds more, have asked the same question, are Cold Chisel going
to do some more shows in other parts of Australia? The answer is we don't know,
but we do know they are thinking about it! When we know, you will know.
Paul, Peter, and Roger write from the UK asking if there are any plans to tour
there. Again nothing to report. We did hear rumours recently that the band was
approached about touring the UK, but nothing has been confirmed.
In the search for the youngest Chisel fan, we have found 10 year old Kelsey,
who incidentally attended the recent Ringside shows. We have also been made
aware of another 10 year old, Lisa who's also a big fan. You girls have good
taste!!
Julie, Arron and Deb have asked whether Chisel have any plans to tour NZ. We
know that Julie along with a number of other kiwis traveled to Sydney for the
Ringside shows. All I know is the band is very keen to get back to NZ as they
missed it during the LWOS Tour of 1998. Ian and Phil are currently over there
touring, so catch up with them.
Check for dates at <www.mosstrooper.com.au
The Banshees have asked about the proposed Ringside DVD, and in particular how
many tracks will be on it. Management tells us that the band is currently wading
through all the material that was recorded and filmed in Sydney. The Album and
DVD are tentatively planned for release around November of this year.
Hans-jurgen from Germany asks how he can purchase some old Chisel touring posters.
Anyone that can help him should contact him via his email - <tippe1961@hotmail.com>
Ross asked about proposed "The Last Stand" movie DVD release. Yes!
Ross it will be mixed in 5.1. The "Ringside" DVD will also be in 5.1
as well.
Sam and Paul asked whether they can purchase any of the Ringside posters designed
by Martin Sharp. Unfortunately they were all sold out at the shows.
Richard asked about the 3 Big Hits package that was released on the 29th August
1994. This package contained the first tracks from the "Teenage Love"
album which was released at the end of October of that year. This 3 disc pack
was designed so that the three single releases from the album could be collected
and housed in one collectors pack. The first disc contained Hands out of My
Pocket, Teenage Love Affair, H-Hour Hotel and On the Road. Disc Two had Nothing
But You, When the Sun Goes Down, and live versions of River Deep Mountain High
and Lets Go Get Stoned. Disc Three had Yesterdays, and live versions of Wild
Colonial Boy, Only One, Build This Love and Letter to Alan. The package was
a gate fold designed by Pierre Baroni who also designed the sleeve artwork for
"Teenage Love".
Jodi asks if you get a prize if your photo appears on the Ringside page? I asked
Rod and he said only if it is outrageous!!
During the Ringside shows we had a number of people ask about Cold Chisels policy
towards people taking photos at their shows. We asked Rod and he advises that
Cold Chisel have no problem with people taking photos, as long as they are for
personal use only!
Mette, another Chisel fan from Denmark has written asking about possible European
dates. Mette, we haven't heard anything yet, but fingers crossed.
Thanks to all those out in the Chisel community who have contacted us with compliments
on the website, we aim to please!! Any suggestions on how to improve things
are always welcome.

FAQs - October 2002
more questions that needed dealing with.....
Rod asks about books on Cold Chisel:
At this stage there are only two available. The first "Showtime" was written
by Michael Lawrence and is self published by Michael. Copies can be obtained
from book stores or from Michael at PO Box 156 Belmont Victoria 3216. We know
that Rod and the band use this as a reference book to check historical facts.
So much so that it is affectionally referred to as the "bible". The other book
is "The Pure Stuff" which is excellently written by long time friend of the
band Anthony O'Grady, and is available in book stores and published by Allen
and Unwin.
Another Rod asks about Dave Blight and in particular his harmonica playing:
Dave plays with his own band, The Dave Blight Band, which also features Rob
Riley (Rose Tattoo) and Dave Small (Phil's brother), around Adelaide every couple
of weeks. The band are currently working on their first CD release. Dave has
also been appearing with Ian and Phil off and on for the last year or so. I
asked Dave what key he was playing in on "One Long Day", he thinks it was in
D. Dave has recommended that you get a copy of what he considers to be the best
book on harmonica playing which is titled "Blues Harp", and written by Tony
"Little Son" Glover.

Nicole also asked about the origins of the song "Letter to Alan" which appeared
on the "Circus Animals album :
On the 12th April 1980 Alan Dallow and Billy Rowe, two long term members of
the Chisel family were incinerated in a truck smash on Highway 31. At the time
the both were working as roadies for Swanee, Jimmy's older brothers band. Alan
was engaged to Jimmy's sister Linda and lived with her and their young son.
Don wrote the song in their memory.

Pat from the US asks are there any Cold Chisel sheet music books available?:
There is a "Best of Cold Chisel" available through retailers that stock sheet
music books. Distributed by Universal Music. Pat you will have to go online
to track this down.
Anneli asks about the DVD for the "Last Stand":
This will be out next year. The CHISEL DVD which includes 22 video clips, 3
never before seen, will be out before xmas.
John asked what was Cold Chisel's first single release?:
Khe Sanh in May 1978.!
Glen asks if the Chisel Convention is on again:
David Leydon has advised that they are looking at running the convention again

It was filmed in Oberon.

My (just turned) 5 year old son - Jayson, has been a mad cold chisel fan for
quite some time and loves the album "The last wave of summer" and has noticed
the words from the last verse from "Never stop loving you" is missing.Could

We will check it out for you.
Billy asks
I was just wondering how the work on the greatest hits DVD are going and if
you have a round about time of release. Any info would be great.
Robert Hambling is beavering away at it and we are hopeful of it being out for
xmas.
Naim writes
i was wondering if you know how many singles that got released off the LAST
WAVE OF SUMMER album?
The first release was "Yakuza Girls" which was made available as an free download
via the internet. The first commecially available single was "The Things I Love
in You"/ "Smalltown Motel Blues" & "Yakuza Girls" and the Joe Bishara remix
of "The Things I Love in You". Next came "Water into Wine" / "A Better Time,
A Better Place", "This Time Round" and "Child of Mine". The final single release
was "Way Down" / "Hold Me", "Fallen Angel" and an alternative mix of "Way Down".
Karen asks
I would like to know when the Last Stand is coming out on DVD.
Hopefully sometime next year. This is a pretty big job with extra footage being
included, new mixes etc.
Danny writes
When did Chisel support Foreigner?
They supported them in April of 1978, in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
Chris asks
In the late 70's Cold Chisel supposably appeared in a movie with the american
actor Beau Bridges. Is this correct?
Yes! this is correct. In March 1977 the band had a small part in a movie titled
"A Shimmering Light" which was filmed on location in a house at Whale Beach
on Sydney's northern beaches. The house is still there today. It is the big
spanish style house opposite Whale Beach surf club. The band appeared playing
on the balcony at a party, but the music that you hear is not theirs, it's someone
else's dubbed in.
Mal writes
I have heard that when Cold Chisel performed at Joe Ely's Tornado Jam in Texas
in 1981, they were joined in a jam by Charlie Sexton who now plays with Bob
Dylan.
A young 14 year old Charlie Sexton did indeed play with the band on that night.
Also on that show, lower down on the bill, was Stevie Ray Vaughn who's older
brother Jimmy was playing with the Fabulous Thunderbirds who were also on the
show.
The older collection of FAQs
These questions all needed answering too! so.....
Joe Bishara Mix.
Studsy has asked where he may find copies of the singles,"The Things I Love
in You" (Joe Bishara mix) and "Water into Wine" single. Unfortunately both singles
have now been deleted. We suggest that you could try Ebay, ring around collectors
record shops, or post a message at Chisel Talk on the Cold Chisel website. Joe
Bishara incidentally has done a number of re mixes for people like Marilyn Manson.
Cold Chisel Discography
Davy from Clydebank asks about a Cold Chisel discography. Go to the Chisel website,
hit - Band and then hit - Album.
Cold Chisel Fan Club
Gibbo asks if there is a Cold Chisel Fan club. There isn't an official club
run by the band, but David and Nick at Forever Now are running one which you
can contact via details at the website. Go to the Fanzine page. I also suggest
you subscribe to the great fanzine "Barking Spider" edited by Michael Lawrence
and Jerome Withers.
WARNING
Please be wary of people hawking Chisel "bootleg" CD's. a) it can be illegal
as someone recently found out, b) it may not be what you think you are buying,
and c) it rips off the band. Cold Chisel have no problem with people swapping
tapes etc, but when they are being sold, no way!
Chisel to play or not to play?...that is the question!
We receive more inquires on this subject than any other topic. Honestly no one
really knows. All we know is that there is no plans to do anything live in the
foreseeable future. Aaron, Ciro, Gail, Pete, Ben, Joe, Tess, and all the rest
who constantly ask, once we know something we will tell you...promise!
Information about solo careers
We get a lot of questions about the guy's solo careers. For up to date info
always go to their personal sites. There are links from the Chisel website.
Go to Links. For Don, we will try to keep you abreast of developments.
"A Better Time, A Better Place"
Melissa has asked if she can get a copy of the lyrics for this song, which appeared
as a b side to the "Water into Wine " single. Don wrote the song, so we will
ask him if he can give us a copy of the lyrics.
UK/Scotland Tour
Peter Irons from Scotland has asked if the band has any plans to tour there
soon. Pete, guess what? No!
"Tuckers Daughter"
Lata Ram has asked what Ian Moss album contained "Tuckers Daughter". The answer
is "Matchbook" which is on Mushroom Records.
"The Last Wave of Summer" reissue
Q: We have had a number of people asking about the songs recorded for the album
but that didn't make the original album or the reissue.
In preparing for recording the band had written in excess of 100 songs for consideration.
These were worked through at the Sydney Opera House with around 30 songs being
eventually short listed for the recording. Some were attempted, some shelved
as not suitable. The only songs which were recorded but have not seen the light
of day on either the original or reissue album are as follows -
"Blind Can't Lead the Blind" - written by Jim. This was eventually released
on Jim's album "Love and Hate". "It Will Always Be You" - written by Don and
covered by David Campbell. "One Life" - written by Phil. "No Reason" - written
by Don. More than likely will be on Don's next solo album scheduled for release
this year. "Hold On Me" - written by Steve. When will these songs will see the
light of day, who knows. Incidentally all songs worked on at the Opera House
were recorded live to DAT.
Chisel Touring Plans for Europe and US.
Q: Have Cold Chisel any plans to tour either Europe or the US in 2002? At this
stage there are no plans for the band to tour either of these markets this year.
Chisel on DVD.
Q: Is there any Cold Chisel DVD's being released this year? There is a couple
of projects being discussed involving DVD. One is a "Greatest Hits" style package
featuring all the band's promotional clips, the other is releasing "The Last
Stand" on DVD. The DVD version of "The Last Stand" will feature never before
seen footage. Both, with a bit of luck should see the light of day sometime
this year.
"The Last Wave of Summer" Live Album.
Q: When can we expect the release of "The Last Wave of Summer" live album? This
is planned for release sometime this year and hopefully will be accompanied
by Robert Hambling's long awaited documentary on the band.
Chisel Merchandising
Q: Where can I get any Cold Chisel merchandise from? We are currently looking
at some new designs for shirts. When manufactured, they will only be available
via the Chisel website.
Finding Chisel product overseas
Douglas Miske from Canada writes -
Hi,
I was browsing through the website and thought that I would add my few cents'
worth about getting Chisel CDs if you live outside of Australia.
I live in Canada. I have a pretty much complete Chisel (and Barnesy) CD catalogue
including the recent Director's Cut of "Last Wave of Summer". My Chisel FatPack
is currently en route.
I do a fair amount of shopping online. After a lot of reseach into availability,
pricing, etc., I have concluded that the best and most consistent source of
Chisel (or just about any Aussie artist/group's) CDs is to order online - from
Australian retailers. In the US, it appears that CD Universe (www.cduniverse.com)
has the best selection.
In Canada, there is only HMV (www.hmv.com). HMV will use theirinternational
connections to obtain items not listed on their site, but on other HMV sites.
You have to put in a special request, though. It is easier to just order from
an Aussie retailer. Delivery seems to take about two weeks from the retailer's
dispatch notice.
From my experience, Sanity (www.sanity.com.au), Whammo! (www.whammo.com.au),
and HMV Australia (www.hmv.com.au) all have an excellent selection of Chisel
material and decent service, but a wide disparity in CD and shipping prices.
I found that Chaos Music (www.chaosmusic.com.au) did not have as good a selection,
and they do not have a consistent shipping charge. Chisel fans should browse
all the sites to compare.
To my understanding, HMV in the UK is the largest online music retailer for
Europe. Unfortunately, their Chisel catalogue is lacking. They were useful for
obtaining Barnesy's "Double Jeopardy", though.

for overseas Chisel fans like me. Hopefully you can do that without "upsetting"
any other retailers. For what it's worth, I listed the retailers above in the
order that I personally would recommend them based on my experiences dealing
with them all.
I hope that this information is of use for the site and other Chisel fans around
the world. If my experience can be of any assitance, please feel free to contact
me.
